The short version

  • The sweet spot for many is the second trimester: energy up, bump manageable.
  • Closer and slower beats far and ambitious.
  • Build the trip around rest and good food, not a packed itinerary.

A babymoon is not about ticking off sights. It is about arriving home rested, connected and quietly ready. The trips that deliver that tend to be gentler, and often closer to home, than the ones people first imagine.

When to go

For many, the second trimester is the comfortable middle: the early nausea has usually eased, energy is often higher, and the bump is not yet at its most unwieldy. Later trips can be lovely too, with a little more planning around comfort and any travel restrictions.

Close to home

You do not need to fly to feel away. A few we send people to:

  • The Gallivant, Camber Sands — a relaxed, design-led beach hotel a short drive from us in East Sussex, all coastal calm and very good food.
  • THE PIG-at Bridge Place, Kent — kitchen-garden cooking and snug rooms, ideal for slow weekends.
  • Beaverbrook, Surrey — a handsome country estate with spa and gardens, easy from the South East.
  • Heckfield Place, Hampshire — quietly luxurious, beautifully understated, and deeply restful.

A little further afield

If you do want to travel, choose somewhere with short transfers and a gentle pace. Places we love for a babymoon include Borgo Egnazia in Puglia, Il Sereno on Lake Como, and Cap Rocat in Mallorca, all designed for slowness rather than sightseeing.

The best babymoon is measured in long lie-ins, not landmarks.

The small things that help

Travel insurance that covers pregnancy, a copy of your maternity notes, comfortable shoes, and a refillable water bottle. Build in genuine downtime, and resist the urge to make it the trip of a lifetime. Restful is the whole point.

Bubba & Me tip

Book a place where you would happily spend a whole day doing nothing. On a babymoon, that is the itinerary.

Always confirm each hotel's current policies, and check travel advice and your midwife's view on travel, especially for flights and longer journeys.
